Worldnet Daily is reporting:
Amid a grass-roots campaign organized by a traditional-family lobby group, California Attorney General Bill Lockyer backed off yesterday on his opinion that public schools cannot inform parents if their children leave campus to receive certain confidential medical services that include abortion, AIDS treatment and psychological analysis.
I doubt that Mr. Lockyer has truly seen the light and decided to give parents the benefit of the doubt. More likely, political uncommon sense took over (Thanks to a little nudging from parents rights groups). Why can’t liberal politicians seem to get the idea that no parent wants to have his or her authority usurped by the government.
Here’s a bit of Irony:
Did you know that your 12year old daughter can’t go to a tanning salon, even with your permission? (Assembly Bill 2193) But according to Bill Lockyer, this same child can leave school for an abortion without you even knowing about it?
Did I miss something here?

I'm Pro-Immigrant!
The Orange County Register is reporting on a weekly boycott of gas stations by “Pro-Immigrant” groups, hoping to bring attention to a bill that would give drivers licenses to illegal immigrants.
I’m Pro- Immigrant! Maybe I should join the boycott!
My wife and her family are immigrants from Fiji. My grandfather was also an immigrant, coming to America from the Cape Verde Islands. There is one catch though... They came here LEGALLY!
And maybe it's just me, but I don't think these "Pro-Immigrant" groups want Legal Immigrants.

The Amercian Dream Supslanted With The Californian Nightmare
Home ownership is the cornerstone of the American Dream. For many, it is the most valuable asset they will have to pass on to their children. For most middle to low-income earners their home may be the only vehicle they have to pass wealth on to future generations. Dan Walters writes of the dilemma facing low-income residents as they are quickly being priced out of this part of the American Dream.

Cosby Is Back On The Attack!
Comedian Bill Cosby is back on the attack promoting parental accountability. This time he was in one of San Francisco’s most impoverished communities, Bayview-Hunters Point. He spoke to kids and parents while visiting Charles Drew Elementary. (Story Here)
This article is a great read, because it clearly shows that while most black leaders my have a problem with his message of accountability, common everyday folks get it and agree.
Check out a commentary I wrote a few weeks ago on this topic “Train Up A Child”

So Help Me God!
Last night on the Fox News Channel's, Hanity & Colmes, Sean Hanity pointed out that many of the Founding Fathers were required pledge their faith in God, Jesus Christ & the Bible prior to taking public office. These were known as a "Test Oaths" and there are even those believe that we should bring back these Test Oaths.
Now while, I am not necessarily in favor of reinstituting this practice; I do believe that we should know what role test oaths played in the founding of our nation and why the founders believed them to be so important. (What is a Test Oath?)
Quite simply put:
1. They knew that a man's personal character and morality would be reflected in the decisions he made as a leader.
Samuel Adams (Signer of the Declaration of Independence) stated "He who is void of virtuous attachments in private life is, or very soon will be, void of all regard of his country. [P]rivate and public vices are in reality . . . connected. . . . Nothing is more essential . . . than that all persons employed in places of power and trust be men of unexceptionable characters. The public cannot be too curious concerning the [private] characters of public men"
2. They believed that all leaders should be called upon to uphold a certain standard. And that standard was rooted in Biblical principles.
Noah Webster wrote in public school textbooks. "In selecting men for office, let principle be your guide. Regard not the particular sect or denomination of the candidate -- look to his character. . . . It is alleged by men of loose principles or defective views of the subject that religion and morality are not necessary or important qualifications for political stations. But the Scriptures teach a different doctrine. They direct that rulers should be men "who rule in the fear of God, able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness" [Exodus 18:21] . . . "
3. They also knew that there would be catastrophic results if we ever allowed our government to be separated from these principles.
Gouverneur Morris (Signer of the Constitution) wrote, "There must be religion. When that ligament is torn, society is disjointed and its members perish. The nation is exposed to foreign violence and domestic convulsion. Vicious rulers, chosen by vicious people, turn back the current of corruption to its source. Placed in a situation where they can exercise authority for their own emolument, they betray their trust. They take bribes. They sell statutes and decrees. They sell honor and office. They sell their conscience. They sell their country. . . . But the most important of all lessons is the denunciation of ruin to every state that rejects the precepts of religion."
4. Therefore, they believed that it was vital to select leaders who were committed to these principles.
John Witherspoon (Signer of the Declaration of Independence) said "Those, therefore, who pay no regard to religion and sobriety in the persons whom they send to the legislature of any State are guilty of the greatest absurdity and will soon pay dear for their folly"
So to make a long story short; the Founding Fathers believed not only that "Character Counts", but that Christian Character should count most of all.

In 2003, 54% of those diagnosed With AIDS is Black. The Truth About AIDS in the Black Community
I have to admit that while I knew that AIDS was a growing epidemic in the Black community, I had no idea it was as bad as it is. Other than Abortion, AIDS is the number one killer in the Black community. As a matter of fact, 54% of those diagnosed with HIV/AIDS in 2003 is Black. By any standard, this is alarming!
But what is even more alarming is what the leaders in the Black community want to offer up as the solutions. The Los Angeles Times is reporting on a meeting that took place to discuss how to stem this tide. And the solutions discussed demonstrate that there is a lot of denial about the root causes for the ramped spread of HIV/AIDS in America, specifically in the Black community. What are their key solutions?
Their Solution #1- “…the community needed to be more accepting of the black gay community…”
While I agree that we should be accepting of all people, we do not have to be, nor should we be accepting of all behavior. It is also important that we tell the truth about how risky this lifestyle choice is. A study by Paul Cameron (Cameron, Paul, William L. Playfair, and Stephen Wellum (1993), “The Homosexual Lifespan,”) states that the average lifespan of homosexual men is more than 30 years less than that of heterosexual men.
Additionally, there are certain behaviors and activities that lead to greater risk for contracting HIV/AIDS and Homosexual Sex is one of the riskiest. The number one method of contracting AIDS, by far, is still male-to-male sexual contact. And the CDC reports that since 2001, this number has been on the rise.
Their Solution #2- “Women also had a responsibility to refuse to have sex with men without using protection”
First of all, let’s remove the “…without protection.” part. Since statistics from the National Organization of Women have shown that even if used properly, condoms fail 14.2% of the time. (That’s if they are used correctly!) This conservative estimate is blown out of the water by another study by Dr. Susan Weller ("A Meta-Analysis of Condom Effectiveness in Reducing Sexually Transmitted HIV”) showed that condoms have a 31% failure rate in preventing the HIV transmission.
Secondly, let’s replace that phrase with, “…outside of a monogamous married relationship.” As statistics show that abstinence and refraining from sex outside of a monogamous, married relationship are the two best ways to prevent unwanted pregnancies and the spread of STDs; including HIV.
Finally, let’s not let men off the hook. We are much more responsible for the spread of HIV in our community that are women. It is men giving the virus to other men and it is also men giving it to women. The number of reported transmissions by women to men sexual contact is dwarfed by both the male-to-male and male-female transmission numbers.
The Real Solution- The most profound statement from this gathering came from a 20 year-old young woman who had become infected with the virus. Now an AIDS-awareness activist, she stated that, “the disease was preventable if people simply used better judgment.”
This all comes down to a matter of making better choices. And the first of these choices has to be doing away with political correctness and telling the truth about HIV/AIDS and the lifestyles that add to the expansion of the disease. We must also confront the myth called “Safe Sex”. There is no such thing… unless you are in a married monogamous relationship. All condoms do is reduce the risk a minimal amount.
All of us have been guilty of poor judgment at one time or another. So, let’s not go casting stones. But the worst thing we can do is to compound that mistake by trying to call it “good judgment”. There are lifestyles and behaviors that dramatically increase the risk of spreading this dangerous disease. Knowing what they are is not the hard part. Being honest with ourselves that there is truly no risk-free way to engage in these activities seems to be the part that many of us cannot accept.

The Red Kettle is Back!
Like several major retailers, Mervyns Stores entered this Christmas season with a new policy, which prohibited soliciting in front of thier establishments. This included the Salvation Army.
Well Mervyns has had a change of heart. So If you want to enjoy the familiar holiday sounds of the ringing bell and change dropping in the kettle, you know where to go! (NOT TARGET!)
Think we can get them back in the Santa Suits? Just and idea!

Who's Misleading Whom?
On October 31st The Sacramento Observer Newspaper published a commentary by Ron Walters entitled "Are Black Pastors Misleading Us?" In this piece, Mr. Walters stated that African American Pastors are misleading their congregants by encouraging them to vote according to their "Christian Values".
Well, it took a month for them to publish my rebuttal, but they did finally do so. I encourage you to both commentaries and comment to the Oberver Newspaper.

Who's Misleading Whom?
"I, for one, am thankful that these pastors see themselves as men and women of God before they see themselves as Black, as Democrats or even Republicans. They are encouraging Blacks to vote their values, not their party. I am proud of those principled individuals who are willing to preach the truth. On the other hand you would have them support politicians who believe that it is OK to partially deliver a baby, stick a needle in the back of its head and suck its brain out (a procedure better known as partial-birth abortion)."
