Hugh Hewitt Agrees...Racism Played Role in Katrina Reporting

Hugh Hewitt in a September 27th interview with Heath Allen, a local NBC News Anchor in New Orleans raises a question that I have been asking for weeks now… Did race or rather racism play a role in the MSM’s reporting of the events surrounding the Hurricane Katrina disaster?

When I posted Racist Media Reports on Katrina- Black People Loot, White People Find and Does Race Matter? Katrina Picture Controversy Raises Interesting Questions. Conservatives jumped down my throat for even suggesting that race played any roll in the media coverage.

Here’s the transcript from the show where Hugh raises the question. I found it at Radioblogger:

HH: Now let me ask you a tough question, though, Heath.

HA: Okay.

HH: Was the hysteria, were the lurid stories of violence, the urban myths, easier for media to swallow, because most of the people swept up in this were the urban underclass, and most of them were African-American? In other words, they were willing to believe the worst about those people in the mainstream media?

HA: I hope not. I hope not. There was so much misery that was here anyway. And it crossed economic lines, and it crossed racial lines. The storm really didn't make any differentiation there. And I wouldn't say that. You know, misery on the face of a white person, or misery on the face of a black person is misery, no matter what. And that's the picture that was being taken down here, and there was certainly enough of it to go around.

HH: But many lies and myths got spread that I don't think would have been spread about an upper-middle class, white group of people.

Like Hugh I believe that the hyped up (and often made up) stories and unsubstantiated tales of anarchy, murder and rape were reported as fact because the MSM found it easy to believe that low-income blacks are capable of such behavior. And sadly, far to many of us who know better than to trust the MSM believed what we saw because we too were willing to believe it could be true.

Man, do I feel vindicated! Thanks Hugh!

Bill Bennett Says it… Planned Parenthood Does it…Guess who’s in trouble over the killing of black babies.

Former Secretary of Education and national radio talk show host Bill Bennett is under fire for statements linking the abortion of black babies to reducing the crime rate. Black leaders like Congressman Jessie Jackson Jr. (Son of Jessie “My Baby Daddy” Jackson of Rainbow Push are Demanding Bennett’s head.

His specific comments were "But I do know that it's true that if you wanted to reduce crime, you could, if that were your sole purpose, you could abort every black baby in this country, and your crime rate would go down," and he did go on to say that any such idea "an impossible, ridiculous and morally reprehensible thing to do, but your crime rate would go down. So these far-out, these far-reaching, extensive extrapolations are, I think, tricky."

What I can’t figure out is why nobody is going after Planned Parenthood for doing, what Bennett merely commented on?

Consider the following comments from the founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger:

  • It [charity] encourages the healthier and more normal sections of the world to shoulder the burden of unthinking and indiscriminate fecundity of others; which brings with it, as I think the reader must agree, a dead weight of human waste. (From Margaret Sanger’s Early Writings 1922)
  • Always to me any aroused group was a good group, and therefore I accepted an invitation to talk to the women's branch of the Ku Klux Klan..." (Margaret Sanger’s Autobiography)
  • The minister’s work is also important and he should be trained, perhaps by the Federation as to our ideals and the goal that we hope to reach. We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population, and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members (November 1939 memorandum entitled "Suggestions for the Negro Project,”).

Now consider the following facts in regards to abortion in the black community:

  • A black baby is now more than three times as likely to be murdered in the womb than a white baby.
  • Since 1973, abortion has reduced the black population by over 25 percent.
  • Twice as many African-Americans have died from abortion than have died fromAIDS, accidents, violent crimes, cancer, and heart disease combined.
  • Every three days, more African-Americans are killed by abortion thanhave been killed by the Ku Klux Klan in its entire history.
  • Planned Parenthood operates the nation's largest chain of abortion clinics andalmost 80 percent of its facilities are located in minority neighborhoods.
  • About 13 percent of American women are black, but theysubmit to over 35 percent of the abortions.

Who should Jessie Jackson Jr. and the rest of those concerned about Black Genocide really be going after?

Dave Chapelle and the Gay KKK...They hate with compassion

If you recall, a few months ago I posted a couple of articles about incidents of discrimination against blacks in the homosexual community.

(Report Says SF Homosexual Community Discriminates Against Blacks and Report Says SF Homosexual Community Discriminates Against Blacks)

I commented at the time that I found it interesting that those who preach the "Tolerance Doctrine" would themselves participate in such overt racism.

Well this parody from the Dave Chapelle Show explains it all... They hate with compassion. (Click Pic For Video)

Now before you moonbats get all upset, let me say this. I do not believe that all homosexuals are racist. But the articles links above demonstrate that there are clearly those in the homosexual community who are.

Study shows Legal Immigration is Down, While Illegal Immigration is Up….Think it's a coincidence?

A recent study by the Pew Hispanic Center demonstrates the outcome of allowing a free flow of illegal immigration and providing added incentives not to obey our immigration laws. Potential immigrants are forgoing the legal process and just coming on in.

The Associated Press issued the following story:

WASHINGTON — Illegal immigrants are entering the country in increasing numbers despite tighter border security and now outnumber foreigners moving to the United States legally, the Pew Hispanic Center reported Tuesday.

"The U.S. economy was obviously a very important factor in determining these flows," said Roberto Suro, director of the center and a co-author of its immigration study.

Since 2001, the number of legal permanent residents entering the U.S. has declined from 578,000 to 455,000, while the number of illegal immigrants has increased from 549,000 to 562,000, the study found.

"We've seen a fairly steady growth in the number of undocumented immigrants living here, and this data shows very sizable numbers coming in," demographer Jeffrey Passel said. "We're clearly not stopping them at the border."

Declines in legal immigration "appear to reflect processing backlogs, security delays and other developments that followed the Sept. 11 attacks," the report says.

The report documents immigration levels from 1992 to 2004.

The Pew Hispanic Center is a nonpartisan research group supported by the Pew Charitable Trusts.

I would venture to say that as long as we are rewarding people for illegally coming to this country, legal immigrants feel penalized for bothering to follow the rules. It reminds me of a sad incident that happened with my kids a few years ago at an Easter egg hunt.

It was a huge event held annually in a public park. The kids were divided into age groups and instructed wait until the whistle blew to start searching for eggs. Organizers made it very clear as they shouted instructions over a bullhorn that running was not allowed.

Well I am sure you can guess what happened as soon as the whistle blew. Kids took off running like “bats outta hell.” Meanwhile parents made spectacles of themselves as they shouted and egged their kids on to run . But my kids, having been taught respect for authority and the importance of following the rules didn’t run. Guess how many eggs they found? Zero!

What lesson did society teach my kids that day? There is no benefit to following the rules. Especially, if there is no punishment for breaking them.

Why should someone go through a cumbersome legal process to come to this country when they can get the same reward by just walking across the boarder? And as long as we continue to offer free healthcare, welfare, food stamps and free education to those who enter this country illegally, why should prospective immigrants bother to obey the law? And we will only further exacerbate the problem by expanding benefits to include government funded student loans, low interest home loans and driver licenses to illegal immigrants.

All the above should be benefits afforded only to those who respect and honor our laws.
And the only way to do so is to obey them. All the blessings and opportunities this country has to offer should be available to those who follow the rules.

After the debacle at the park I took the kids home and we had our own Easter egg hunt. And to show them how proud I was that they followed the rules, instead of candy in the eggs…. My kids got cash!

I wanted them to know that it pays to do the right thing.

Do You Support Prop. 73?

As many of you know, I am working with a coalition of Pro-Family organizations that have come together to help pass Proposition 73 (The Parent’s Right to Know Initiative). The California Parent’s Rights Coalition is made up of the state’s leading advocates for traditional values and religious liberty. However, we still face a significant uphill battle.

The main stream media is going out of their way to keep the truth from getting out about this initiative and those who oppose it. Take for example this excerpt from a commentary by Thomas Elias published last week in the Ventura County Star:

Proposition 73 is a parental consent abortion restriction forcing pregnant girls younger than 18 to get written permission from a parent or a judge before undergoing an abortion. Proposition 75 would force public employee labor unions to seek permission from their members every year before using dues money for political purposes.

Anyone who thinks these are new issues just hasn't been paying attention.

Parental consent has never before gone directly before the voters. But indirectly, it has. That came in 1998, when conservatives viewed two of Republican Gov. Pete Wilson's state Supreme Court appointees as traitors for their 1997 decision overturning a state parental consent law passed in 1987.

The California Pro-Life Council targeted both Chief Justice Ronald George and his colleague Ming Chin for judicial oblivion when they came up for routine yes-or-no confirmation votes for new 12-year terms.

Just as they do this fall, Democrats fretted in 1998 about whether the campaign against the two justices would bring large numbers of pro-life voters to the polls, worrying at the time that this could reduce the gubernatorial chances of Gray Davis. Plainly, Davis had nothing to worry about in that vote, winning handily at the same time the two justices were easily reconfirmed.

That fizzled campaign against the justices, plus their decision a year earlier to toss the existing parental consent law on personal grounds provides reason to wonder whether Proposition 73 would stand for long even if it passes.

First of all, Prop. 73 does not require parental consent. It simply requires abortion providers notify the parents of minor children 48 hours prior to performing an abortion on their child. Secondly, unlike California’s parental consent law, this measure would amend the California Constitution, thus prohibiting out of control judges from overriding the will of the voters.

One thing Mr. Elias is right about is the potential fate of this initiative. If we, those who value parent’s rights, those who value the well being of our children, those of us who value life…If we do not step up step up to the plate and support this initiative, it will fail. And please understand, support is not a passive thing.

We truly support those people and causes to which we give of our resources. Our time, our talent and our treasury…These are our resources. And anyone can give. If you only can spare and hour or two of your time to make phone calls, knock on doors or stuff envelopes, that support means something. Even if you can only give $10, that is $10 more to help pass this initiative.

But if you have not given of your resources: your time, talent or treasury, then you are not a supporter of Prop 73. You’re a cheerleader… a well wisher… but not a supporter. Our daughters need all the supporters they can get. I hope we can count on your support.

If George Bush is our “Bull” Conner, Charlie Rangel is our Stepin Fetchit!

For those of you who missed it last week, Congressman Charlie Rangel stated George Bush is our Bull Connor! And if that doesn’t get to you, nothing will be able to get to you. It’s time for us to be able to say that we’re sick and tired, we’re fired up and we’re not going to take it anymore.”

You’re right Charlie... I, for one am not going to take your Stepin Fetchit, Uncle Tom antics lying down anymore. It is about time that you and the rest of your ilk were exposed for the sellouts you are. You have sold out your constituents, your people and your country all for the sake of the Democrat Party and your own personal agenda!

DO I SOUND FIRED UP TO YOU!!!

Normally, I try not to get too emotional over the nonsense spewed from the mouths of the liberal race-baiters. But this case was especially egregious. In one failed swoop, Rep. Rangel managed to trivialize both the abysmal government response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina and the very serious issue of racism in America… all in an effort to promote himself and his democrat slave masters. That is why I call Charlie Rangel “Our Stepin Fetchit!”

Let’s see which comparison fits best.

Theophilus Eugene “Bull” Connor (July 11, 1897 – March 10, 1973) was a police official in the Southern United States during the American Civil Rights Movement and a staunch advocate of racial segregation.

Connor was born in Selma, Alabama.

As the Public Safety Commissioner of Birmingham, Alabama in the 1960s, he became infamous for using fire hoses and police attack dogs against unarmed, nonviolent protest marchers. The spectacle of this being broadcast on national television helped to catalyse major social and legal change in the South and helped in large measure to assure the passage by Congress of the Voting Rights Act of 1965; so ironically Connor’s tactics helped to bring about the very change that he was opposing. And most importantly…BULL CONNOR WAS A DEMOCRAT!!!!!!!

How many times has President Bush ordered police to use attack dogs on blacks? How many times has he demanded that fire hoses be turned on them? None. So much for him being our Bull Conner.

Stepin Fetchit (May 30, 1902 - November 19, 1985) (real name Lincoln Theodore Monroe Andrew Perry) was an African-American comic character actor whose name has become synonymous with degrading racial stereotypes in Hollywood movies of the first half of the 20th century. His stage name is a contraction of "step and fetch it", implying his servile persona.

Perry played comic relief roles in a number of motion pictures, and his character epitomized the black stereotype of a shiftless, lazy servant of low intelligence who bowed and scraped at the feet of white actors at every opportunity.

Though Perry did not invent this stereotype, his image was used to popularize it, and many black characters in the movies, such as Stymie in the Our Gang comedies, were based upon the image of Stepin Fetchit.

Because of the degrading image of African-Americans portrayed by Stepin Fetchit, Perry's movies are rarely screened today, and they have not seen a wide release on video. Nonetheless, film historians state that he was a talented comedian, and his career was so successful that he is cited as the first black actor to become a millionaire. He did not manage his fortune well, however, and he declared bankruptcy in 1947.

Now if that doesn’t sound like Charlie Rangel and the rest of the Black liberal leadership, I don’t know what does.

1. Their political policies are based on the assumtion that blacks are either incapable or unwilling of getting an education, keep a job or even make the most basic economic decisions for themselves.

2. Their talking points are mimicked in state houses and city hall chambers across the country by “Wanna Be” black political leaders who chose only to repeat the latest DNC talking points, no matter how stupid it makes them look.

3. They are constantly chasing after “White Liberals” for approval; Acting as their attack dogs whenever the race card needs to be played. And never questioning their DNC “Mastas” on why their policies have failed so miserably in the black community.

4. And yes! They too have been paid well for their minstral show! One only need bring up Jessie Jackson’s shakedown scam better known as Rainbow Push. As for the politicians like Rangel and Diane Watson, their payoff has come in their being allowed to serve as political overseers to their psycologically enslaved constituencies.

Sounds like a fit to me! And if this commentary comes across as inflamatory…. GOOD!!!!! It’s about time they got a little of their own medicine!

Teachers Sue Unions Over Dues Increase to Fight Governor

A number of California Teachers have teamed up with the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation (NRTW) to fight back against the union bosses who (without a vote of the membership) authorized an increase in their membership dues to fight the Governor’s reforms on the November special election ballot.

In a press release issued by NRTW they state:

Like many public servants, the six named plaintiffs object to paying for union political activities with which they disagree, so they asked the Foundation for free legal assistance. They seek an order certifying their suit as a class action for all CTA members and nonmembers, and all CFA nonmembers. The educators also ask for an injunction to block the use or further collection of the special dues increase and an order that every teacher and professor be given notice and allowed to obtain a refund, plus interest.

And believe it or not, they actually have a decent chance of winning.

In the Foundation-won U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Chicago Teachers Union v. Hudson (1986), the high court ruled that public employees have due process rights under the First and Fourteenth Amendments to be notified, as potential objectors, of how their forced union dues are spent, and how to prevent the spending of their dues for non-collective bargaining purposes. However, the CTA and CFA unions have failed to give educators any opportunity to object and have rebuffed those who have objected.

Isn’t it ironic that these unions would take money from their members for political purposes without their permission to fight an initiative that would prevent them from taking money from their members for political purposes without their permission?

$1 Lap Dances for Katrina Rescue Workers- Katrina Stripper Connection Part II

No I am not obsessed with strippers and Hurricane Katrina. But when the obsurd becomes reality, I can't help but point it out.

Last week I wrote about how some Katrina survivors were using thier $2000 FEMA debit cards to got to strip clubs in Houston. Well now that the French Quarter is reopening, strip clubs are offering $1 lap dances to rescue relief workers.

See the Reauters Story Below:

NEW ORLEANS (Reuters) - In a sign that things may be returning to normal in New Orleans, strip shows are back in the city's famous French Quarter.

Erotic dancers and strippers are entertaining crowds of police, firefighters and military personnel instead of the usual audiences of drunken conventioneers and tourists in Bourbon Street's Deja Vu club, which reopened this week.

It's the first strip joint to resume business, three weeks after Hurricane Katrina struck in the worst natural disaster ever to hit the United States.

"It's nice to get back to work, and all these men need some entertainment," Dawn Beasley, 27, a dancer at the club, said on Tuesday night. "They haven't seen anybody but their buddies for two weeks."

The crowd hooted and hollered as women peeled off their tops and gyrated, as customers tucked tips into their G-strings.

"This is our first time off the ship and it's great," said one young sailor as he left the club. He declined to give his name or say where he was stationed.

"It's good to see the businesses getting back up and bringing the city back," another sailor said.

New Orleans' strip clubs have long been a fixture of Bourbon Street, where marquees promise everything from "barely legal" dancers to transvestite divas. Photos of the seedy shows inside the clubs line the windows, next to scores of bars in the district that draws tourists from around the globe.

The city's dusk-to-dawn curfew failed to prevent the Deja Vu from staying open to the early hours, with blaring music and neon lights spilling out into the Quarter, most of which remained bathed in darkness in the aftermath of the storm.

"We were open till two last night, just long enough to get the testosterone flowing," Beasley said.

Only a handful of restaurants and bars in the Quarter have reopened in recent days, serving food and drinks -- usually without charge -- to rescue workers and military who stream through the mostly empty streets. The Deja Vu waived its cover charge, drinks were selling for $3 and a private dance was available for just $1.

For Deja Vu manager Brent Ardeneaux, reopening was a public service.

"It's a disaster zone. You got a lot of people in from out of town that need entertaining," he said as he unloaded supplies from the back of a pick-up truck.

The club even drew several women looking for a respite from their duties patrolling the city, but they resisted entreaties to join the others on stage and left after a few minutes.

One of them, a soldier, said: "We were just looking for any place open. We've been working hard."

This is the first time I have ever hear of stripping being referred to as a public service. These ladies are giving new meaning to giving the shirt of thier back.

Chinese Company Introduces Clinton and Lewinsky Brand Condoms

The Mainichi Daily News reports:

“A rubber company in China has begun marketing condoms under the brand names Clinton and Lewinsky, apparently seeking to exploit the White House affair that led to the impeachment of America's 42nd president.”

If there was any doubt the Bill Clinton brought the American Presidency to an all time low this should settle it once and for all.

Why You Should Vote for My Guy....

The CRP convention hall is packed with tables for candidates for statewide office.

I thought you might like to hear directly from the campaigns why you should vote for their candidates. Now some of you may take these videos as cracks against the candidates. They are not.
I was hoping to let grass roots folks tell you why they are supporting their candidates, but was shocked by how little they actually knew…or at least would share about the individuals they were helping to elect. The worst part is that these are supposed to be involved activists.

Whenever I put myself out there for someone, I at least make sure I know what they stand for. I want other people to know why they should vote for my guy; how his getting elected will make their lives better. I didn’t get that from these folks and left their tables wondering.

Please forgive my commentary...I couldn't help myself . (Click Pics for Video)

Able Maldonado for State Controler

He's in control!!!!

This guy actually works for Senator Maldonado; or at least he says he does. And the best reason he can come up with to vote for his boss is that “He has a desire to control spending?” Do yourself a favor my friend, pick up one of the brochures sitting in front of you and study it.

Keith Richman for State Treasurer

He can win!!!!

“Vote for me because I can win?” Heck, if everybody voted for me, I could win too. If this is the best that these folks can come up with, their candidate is in big trouble. This is the problem with the direction our party is going. We have become so obsessed with winning that we don’t care if a candidate is qualified or even shares our values.

Ray Haynes for State Board of Equalization

Ray's in the House!!!!

Ok... maybe it isn't fair that Ray Haynes was actually at the table. But hey... He was actually at the table!

Some Katrina Survivors Use FEMA $2000 Debit Cards at Strip Clubs

The Houston Police Department is reporting that some recipients of FEMA Storm Relief Debit cards are getting relief in some unexpected ways; by frequenting local strip clubs.

WorldNet Daily is reporting:

The Houston Police Department just formed a task force to investigate the abuse of the cards, which were distributed to thousands of Katrina hurricane victims to provide for necessities, such as food, clothing and toiletries. On the first day, the police found the cards being used to buy beer while ogling exotic dancers.

According to a report by KPRC, Channel 2, in Houston, a manager at Caligula XXI Gentlemen's Club said he has seen at least one debit card used at his club. A bartender at Baby Dolls, identified only as "Abby," said she has seen many of the cards used at her establishment.

"A lot of customers have been coming in from Louisiana and they've been real happy about the $1.75 beers and they're really nice," she said.

She couldn't say for sure whether the cards she has seen were from the Red Cross or from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, but she found no fault in using federal dollars to guzzle beer at a strip club.

I think we all knew that some abuse of relief funds was inevitable. But this is ridiculous!

What a "Sheedy" Thing To Do!

**UPDATED**
See Below!

Yesterday at the afternoon meeting of the Sacramento City Council, a routine staff report on Public Campaign Finance, turned into a political slam session with yours truly as the sole target.

After the city auditor presented his report which stated that “the candidate’s usage of matching funds complied with municipal criteria” (Click Here to View the Audit) Council member Sandy Sheedy (my opponent in the campaign) proceeded to question many of the contributions and expenditures. And by the time it was over Mrs. Sheedy along with council members Bonnie Pannell and Robbie Watters were eluding to prison, recall (if elected) or worse, a Sacramento Bee hatchet job. And you know you can always count on the Sacramento Bee to get a story right…..NOT!

So today’s Sacramento Bee is reporting:

The sole candidate who has used the program since it went into place last year used campaign funds on travel expenses in Washington, D.C., Chicago and San Francisco. The candidate even purchased a rug for his office, according to the audit findings presented Tuesday to the City Council.

Sound fishy? When you put it the way that they did, of course it does. So let me clear the air.

First of all, the total amount for the items mentioned above was a little over $725. $286 went for a stay at the State GOP Convention and $321 was for a fundraising trip to Washington DC (with a two hour layover in Chicago.) That makes a grand total $607 in travel expenses on two fundraising trips.

And as for the $126 spent on a rug; we had a space for volunteer operations donated to the campaign for the final three months. The storefront location consisted of bare walls and a dusty concrete floor. But we were grateful to have it. So in order to make the place a little more pleasant for volunteers, we purchased a large roll of carpet remnant to roll out on the floor to cover the bare concrete floor and keep the dust from flying around.

But Sheedy was not interest in the facts because the facts get in the way of a good lie. She ignored the fact that the Sacramento City Auditor verified that my campaign complied with every statute and reporting requirement laid out by the city of Sacramento.

Kolkin's audit found that DeLuz complied with the city's ordinance and broke no rules when he used his campaign funds - which included nearly $17,000 in taxpayer dollars - on his campaign expenditures.

She ignored the fact the fact that my campaign answered every question and submitted all documents requested by the Sacramento City Auditor. I even went as far as offering to meet with the City auditor to answer any additional questions they might have. Needless to say they did not take me up on the offer.

Their goal was not to get at the truth. Rather it was to invent their own truth.

"If we had expended money like we see on this list, we would be recalled or wind up in The Sacramento Bee," said Councilwoman Bonnie Pannell.

Oh Really????? Well if that’s the case, perhaps she should take a look at the campaign finance reports of her good friend Sandy Sheedy. If she did, she would be quick to notice that just about every criticism directed at my campaign could also apply to Mrs. Sheedy.

Sheedy criticized my campaign for obtaining contributions from outside the City of Sacramento. But the following is a partial list of contributions to her campaign by special interest groups form outside the Sacramento area:

Sheedy also questioned the $607 in expenses related to out of area travel. All the while, her campaign has reported a total of $6000 paid to Citibank Credit Card Services for “Meeting and Appearances” with no details listed.

The most egregious accusation leveled was that I personally benefited from payments made to the Matsonian Group, LLP who managed my campaign. This assertion was so baseless that the Bee didn’t even bother to mention it. But I will! Because I want to state for the record I have no ownership interest in the Matsonian Group. Sandy would have known this if she had or anybody from the city bothered to ask. And if they had, they would have realized that I simply sublet space from Matson Breakey, the sole owner of the Matsonian Group.

But at the same time she is questioning my relationship with Matson her campaign has issued over $5100 in checks to a Joseph Sheedy. Any relation?

And as for her concern over the $150 paid to the California Republican Party, maybe Mrs. Sheedy should explain her more than $2600 in contributions to Democrat causes (not including contributions to local liberal candidates like, James Shelby, Lois Wolk and Lou Blanas.) But hey… She did give $100 for a slate “Continuing the Republican Revolution.”

Now I am sure that with a minimal amount of investigation, it would become clear that all of these contributions and expenditures are on the up and up. The same can also be said for the audit of my campaign finances. I find it quite hypocritical that Sandy Sheedy would engage in such an obvious personal, political and (may I add) petty attack when her own campaign finance reports could not stand up to the same level of scrutiny.

I have offered the Sacramento City Council my willingness to sit down, once again with their auditor to answer any questions they might have about my campaign finances. I still am hopeful that they will take me up on my offer. And afterwards I expect an apology from Bonnie Pannell and Robbie Watters for publicly slandering my good name. I have come to expect such "Sheedy" behavior out of Sandy, but Pannell and Watters should know better.

Katrina Victims Wait on Rooftops While Democrat Congressman Uses Troops to Visit His Home!

In what could be considered a misuse of military resources during a crisis, Representative William Jefferson (D- New Orleans) embarked on a rescue mission of hi personal effects. The rescue effort included National Guard troops, two large trucks, a navy diver and a helicopter.

ABC News reports:

Amid the chaos and confusion that engulfed New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina struck, a congressman used National Guard troops to check on his property and rescue his personal belongings — even while New Orleans residents were trying to get rescued from rooftops, ABC News has learned.

Rep. Jefferson states that he never asked for a National Guard Escort and that the original intent of the trip into hurricane ravaged New Orleans was to check on disaster survivors at the Superdome.

Lt. Col. Pete Schneider of the Louisiana National Guard tells ABC News that during the tour, Jefferson asked that the truck take him to his home on Marengo Street, in the affluent uptown neighborhood in his congressional district. According to Schneider, this was not part of Jefferson's initial request.

And once they arrived at the congressman’s home, things appeared to get out of hand.

Two Heavy Trucks and Helicopter Involved

The Louisiana National Guard tells ABC News the truck became stuck as it waited for Jefferson to retrieve his belongings.

Two weeks later, the vehicle's tire tracks were still visible on the lawn.

The soldiers signaled to helicopters in the air for aid. Military sources say a Coast Guard helicopter pilot saw the signal and flew to Jefferson's home. The chopper was already carrying four rescued New Orleans residents at the time.

A rescue diver descended from the helicopter, but the congressman decided against going up in the helicopter, sources say. The pilot sent the diver down again, but Jefferson again declined to go up the helicopter.

After spending approximately 45 minutes with Jefferson, the helicopter went on to rescue three additional New Orleans residents before it ran low on fuel and was forced to end its mission.

Whether or not Rep. Jefferson asked for a National Guard Escort. This trip to his residence was inappropriate. Were average citizens being allowed to go return to their homes at this time? I think not. And being an elected official, he knew they would not refuse him nor let him go in alone. William Jefferson endangered many others with this selfish act. Rescue personel and thier vehicles were delayed for hours because his actions.

Unfortunately though, I am sure that they will find a way to make this President Bush’s fault.

Perform an Illegal Abortion, Go to Death Row! They don’t play in Texas!

Texas Governor Rick Perry recently signed legislation requiring abortions providers to obtain parental consent prior to performing abortions on minor children. This measure coupled with a change in the legal definition of an “individual ” in the homicide statute two years ago, could result in a cases involving doctors who perform illegal abortions being prosecuted as capitol murder cases.

The Waco Tribune Herald reports:

Doctors who perform illegal abortions in Texas could be prosecuted for capital murder and face a death sentence under recent changes in Texas law that have resulted in apparent unintended consequences.

While officials familiar with the new legislation say such prosecutions are unlikely, the possibility of a doctor on death row, whether intentional or not, puts a sharp focus on the importance of analyzing legislative activity every two years, officials say.

Prior to 2003 the definition of an “individual” in homicide statutes was “a human being who has been born and is alive.” Now it means “a human being who is alive, including an unborn child at every stage of gestation, from fertilization until birth.

Needless to say there was a lot of debate surrounding abortion. And as a result a deal was struck exempting legal abortions from being subject to the homicide statutes. But illegal abortions were not exempted. For example, if a doctor performs an abortion on a 12 year old child without her parent’s permission, that doctor not only guilty of a crime, but could also face the death penalty.

I don’t know if this was intentional or not. But it will definitely make doctors think twice before performing abortions. And that is not necessarily a bad thing.

Democrat Sen. Mary Landrieu Refuses to Criticize Democrats for Katrina Debacle… All Bush’s fault!”

“Now is not the time for finger-pointing. Now is the time to rebuild.”

These were the words of Senator Mary Landrieu (D- Louisiana) during an interview with Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday. But this was in stark contrast to statements made by the Senator on the floor of the Senate decrying the federal response to Hurricane Katrina.

They gambled that no one would notice if Louisiana's critical and vital role in our national economy was threatened. And Washington rolled the dice and Louisiana lost.”

Senator Landrieu, in full spin mode, refused to apply the same critical eye on fellow Democrats elected at the state and local levels.

“I am not going to level criticism at local and state officials. Mayor Nagin and most mayors in this country have a hard time getting their people to work on a sunny day, let alone getting them out of the city in front of a hurricane. And it's because this administration and administrations before them do not understand the difficulties that mayors — whether they are in Orlando, Miami, or New Orleans — face.”

Is this Democrat senator blaming local and state employees (who also happen to be members of public employee labor unions) for refusing to help in the evacuation before Hurricane Katrina hit land? Not quite…

“In other words, this administration did not believe in mass transit. They won't even get people to work on a sunny day, let alone getting them out...”

Am I the only one who is confused? When did the President of the United States become responsible for getting local public employees to report to work? Even by Democrat standards this is a far reaching accusation.

The reality is Senator Landrieu is not interested in finding out what went wrong. She is clearly engaging in the very “Finger Pointing” that she is stated this is “not the time for” .

The Blame Game is in full effect!

The Daily Show Coverage of Katrina Disaster

Jon Stewart of the Daily Show adds to the liberal media's objective, in depth coverage of the disaster relief efforts in Louisiana.

You will especially appreciate the information on the administration’s effort to build a dam in Arkansas.

I know that this is liberal spin at its very best, but I couldn’t help but laugh.

Crisis Management God’s Way…Leadership Lessons from Hurricane Katrina

Anyone who objectively looks at the Hurricane Katrina relief effort has to admit the endeavor was fraught with problems. As stories of violence and looting filled the airwaves along with images of senior citizens and infants suffering from lack of food, even President Bush had to admit that the government response to this crisis was “unacceptable.”

Crisis management is an often overlooked skill of effective leaders. For example, when 9/11 hit, President Bush demonstrated true leadership. And even in the debacle that followed Katrina I believe that one can find lessons relating to effective leadership…or what I like to call “Crisis Management God’s Way”

A great example of Godly leadership during a crisis can be found in Chapter 2 of the book of Daniel.

The Readers Digest Version (Daniel 2:1-27)

King Nebuchadnezzar had a troubling dream and it scared him. He called all the advisors together for a meeting. He demanded they interpret the dream for him and that they do it not knowing what the dream was. He added to their situation by warning them that if they didn’t come up with an interpretation he was going to kill the lot.

Well as they scattered to their respective places the word spread in the advisory community that a red alert—code blue was in effect.

Daniel was a remnant member of the advisor community and would be swept up in the net for execution if no interpretation was forthcoming. Daniel conferred with his three Hebrew associates encouraging them to prayer. Daniel then waited for God to reveal the dream and save the lives of the advisors.

God answered his prayer, gave him a replay of the dream and the interpretation. He went to the king with the interpretation and averted disaster.

LESSON #1- Seek Understanding before trying to be Understood (Stop, Listen, Understand and then Act!) Dan 2:14-15

When a crisis erupts people want to see action. Often they don’t know what that action should be, but they want to see something being done. Reports on the ground in New Orleans were full of “Monday Morning Quarterbacking”, finger pointing and suggestions for what the government should be doing. Mayor Ray Nagin gave orders to his police officers to shoot looters on sight; completely ignoring the fact that some of those looters are simply trying to get food and water for their families. Tens of thousands were evacuated to the Superdome despite the fact that there was no food or water to sustain them. You see action without understanding can often result in making things worse.

Daniel made it a point to understand why the king made the decree that he had. A lesser leader, would have lamented on how impossible the king’s demands were. He would have complained about how unfair it was. Daniel’s first reaction was to get understanding so that he could take action.

When in a crisis we must stop our natural instinct to jump into action (without knowing what’s going on.) We must listen to those who do know what is going on and gain enough understanding so that effective action can be taken.

LESSON #2- Focus on one thing at a time (First things first!) Dan 2:16-18

The middle of a crisis is no time to practice one’s adeptness at multitasking. Each decision a leader makes could have dire consequences and thus deserves the leader’s full, undivided attention. As the media hurled questions at President Bush about who was at fault, he made it clear that he was not going to use this time to investigate why things were so messed up. Rather, his administration’s number one mission was to get help to those who needed it.

Once Daniel had understanding enough to develop an action plan, he wasted no time doing what needed to be done. First he went to the king to get the time that he needed, then he explained to his friends what needed to be done and put them to work.

Confusion is the tool of the enemy and can often result in mistakes. Trying to juggle too many decisions or projects at one time is an easy way to get confused. When an airplane loses cabin pressure passengers are advised to first secure their oxygen mask before helping their neighbor secure theirs. This is to help ensure that both passengers do not pass out before they are able to help one another, thus resulting in their deaths. Always remember “First things first!”

LESSON #3- Seek out the root of the crisis and address it (Focus on the root not the fruit) Daniel 2:18-19

We have a tendency to focus on the effects of problems rather than the causes of problems. The fact that people were looting grocery stores was not the root cause of the problems in New Orleans. It was actually the effect of a lack of food, water, dry clothes and other basic supplies. In order to solve the problem, the first response should have been to get food, water and supplies to survivors ASAP, as opposed to ordering police to shoot looters on sight. Once this was done, it would have been a lot easier to distinguish those who were trying to survive from those who are simply taking advantage of bad situation.

Daniel’s efforts did not focus on trying to save the lives of the advisors. If this had been the case, he may have encouraged them to flee or called for an attempt to overthrow the king (an effort that would have surely been unsuccessful). Instead, Daniel’s actions focused on the root of the problem. God was trying get a message to Nebuchadnezzar and that his anxiety over his dream caused him threaten the life of his advisors.

This is why it is important to FULLY understand the situation before acting (see Lesson#1). Informed action will allow a leader to address the root of a problem as opposed to the fruit of the problem. And as any experienced vinedresser will tell you, a tree with a healthy root will ultimately produce healthy fruit.

LESSON #4- Crisis management demands clear communication (Focus on what you want, not why you want it.) Daniel 2:17

Especially, in the middle of a crisis, it is vital that a leader be clear about what is expected from those he leads. Everyone needs to be on the same page. Probably the saddest example of communication during the crisis in New Orleans was demonstrated by the Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco.

During the initial days of the crisis, images of and statements by Governor Blanco were surprisingly absent from most media reports. Both local and federal officials were counting on the state for direction and they received very little. Could Governor Blanco have mobilized other local and state police, fire and medical personnel and sent them to New Orleans? Did she? It is hard to say. Communication and coordination from within the governor’s office was so poor that the White House informed the Governor that if she did not relinquish control of the relief effort to the feds that they would simply take control away from her (An action that local officials were already asking them to do.) Needless to say, there was confusion as a result of poor communication.

In Daniel’s case, he told his friends what was going on and what he needed them to do. Notice that he did not take a vote or entertain objections. Often in a crisis there will not be time to explain why you make the decisions that you do. If you have followed the steps outlined in Lesson #1, they have had their say and you have made the most informed decision possible. Never the less- during a crisis, others will second guess you. Get used to it! It’s part of the job. Simply assure them success does not require their agreement, merely their obedience.

LESSON #5- Wait until the crisis has past to reflect (Don't Play the Blame Game!) Daniel 2:27-28

One of the worst things that a leader can do during a crisis is to get involved in the blame game. It simply wastes valuable time and creates division at a time when unity is essential to success. President Bush’s initial response was to accept responsibility by stating that the government’s poor response was unacceptable. But he didn’t start pointing fingers. He simply made it be known that there will eventually be an investigation into how things ran amok.

During his crisis, Daniel did not waste time blaming the king for his unreasonable demands or chastising the advisors for not being able to effectively communicate to the king the enormity of his request. He dealt with the crisis. Then, later during his reflection, Daniel ultimately realizes that the king’s advisors were correct in their initial assessment of the situation. In fact, no man could do what the king demanded. But he knew that nothing is impossible for God.

It is also important to note that post-crisis reflection should always be about identifying successes and correcting errors. The goal of this reflection is not to place blame, but to figure out what happened so that you can be prepared in the future and overt the same mistakes.

This is also the time when a leader accepts responsibility for their decisions and the actions of those they lead. There are some things that may not be their fault, but ultimately the buck stops with them.

FINALLY- Walk in Faith not by Sight!

During a crisis our natural instinct is to be moved by what we see… to let our emotions take over and let fear and confusion set in. However, it is at this point that our faith should instinctively kick in. And it will if we practice these lessons in crisis management in our everyday lives.

Think about it! We deal with crises everyday; some big, some small. We have health crises, financial crises, family crises and spiritual crises. All are an opportunity to put feet to our faith. And as we prove faithful in the little crises, God will prove faithful in the big ones.

Does Race Matter? Katrina Picture Controversy Raises Interesting Questions.

I have never seen so many conservatives come to the defense of the MSM! I must have struck a nerve.

Last week I posted a story featuring pictures Katrina survivors. In both photos the survivors were carrying food and water which they had obtained from local grocery stores. However, in one photo with two whites, the caption stated that they “found” their items, while the other picture with a young black man stated that he “looted” his stuff from a store. I entitled the post “Racist Media Reports on Katrina- Black People Loot, White People Find”

Originally my intention was to point out the hypocrisy of the left-wing media when it comes to issues of race. They claim to be so “culturally sensitive”. But this little slip up just goes to prove that even the PC police can make mistakes. You know, by doing things like calling American citizens Refugee’s in their own country!. Webster’s Dictionary defines Refugee as - a person who flees to a foreign country or power to escape danger or persecution.

But the plethora of explanations from conservatives defending the liberal media leads me to ask the question- Does Race still matter? As a black man and as a conservative, I definately have my opinion.

Before I write my thoughts, I would like to know what you think. Does race still matter in today’s society? Does it still matter to you?

Racist Media Reports on Katrina- Black People Loot, White People Find

While visiting Booker Rising, I came across this story.
Here are two pictures of victims of Hurricane Katrina doing what they have to in order to survive. Both pictures feature people wading through chest high flood waters carrying with them food and water they have taken form local grocery stores. That is about where the similarity ends.

As you can see the survivor in the top photo is black, while the bottom picture has two white survivors. But what is most perplexing is the difference in the captions.

The caption describing the Black man states:

A young man walks through chest deep flood water after looting a grocery store in New Orleans…

But the caption describing the white storm victims says the following:

Two residents wade through chest-deep water after finding bread and soda from a local grocery store after Hurricane Katrina came through the area in New Orleans…

So much for a “Culturally Sensitive” liberal media.

**UpDate**

The photo of the White's who "found thier groceries" has been removed and Yahoo News has posted a statement in regards to the wording controversy. (Click Here to read) Meanwhile the picture of the Black "Looter" is still up!

What gives?

You can also read Salon.com story on the wording issue.

AB 849 vote expected this week -- keep calling!

  • ACTION: CLICK HERE to call, fax and email your state legislators and Governor Schwarzenegger to protect marriage licenses!

VOTEYESMARRIAGE.COM BLASTS AB 849, THE DEMOCRAT POLITICIANS’ SAME-SEX ‘MARRIAGE’ BILL

Sacramento – The VoteYesMarriage.com coalition, which is aiming to put a state constitutional amendment on next year’s ballot to protect marriage rights for one man and one woman, is blasting a high-profile bill that would delete a man and a woman from California marriage law.

AB 849, which would require all California counties to issue “gay marriage” licenses, is on the floor of the California State Senate. If passed this week, it would mark the first time that a legislative body in the United States has repealed the people’s vote on marriage. Five years ago, 61% of California voters approved Proposition 22 to keep marriage between a man and a woman. In Article II, Section 10(c) of the California Constitution, the Legislature is specifically prohibited from repealing voter-approved initiatives.

At a news conference today outside the State Capitol, VoteYesMarriage.com blasted AB 849 as “a mark of a dictatorship, not of a democracy.” “How dare Mark Leno and the Democrat politicians destroy the definition of marriage and tear up the people’s vote,” said VoteYesMarriage.com spokesman Randy Thomasson, a proponent of the Voters’ Right to Protect Marriage Initiative , who was flanked by pro-family citizens. “The Democrats’ attack upon marriage makes people angry; the trashing of their vote makes them even more angry.”

“Debra Bowen, Deborah Ortiz and Jackie Speier will definitely harm their chances for statewide office if they overturn California voters on something as sacred as marriage between a man and a woman,” added Thomasson, referring to state senators running for Secretary of State, Insurance Commissioner, and Lieutenant Governor, respectively. “And if Mike Machado votes to create ‘gay marriage’ licenses, he can say good-bye to his dream of being elected to higher office,” said Thomasson, referring to the undecided senator who represents San Joaquin and Solano counties, which overwhelmingly voted for Proposition 22.

VoteYesMarriage.com is calling upon Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to announce that he will veto AB 849 if it reaches his desk. “It’s high time for the ‘Terminator’ to tell us this bill is ‘dead meat’ if it lands on his desk,” said Thomasson.

Also speaking at today’s news conference was VoteYesMarriage.com proponent Ed Hernandez. “Why are the Democrat legislators attacking the democratic vote of the people?” asked Hernandez. “If the Legislature flushes the people’s vote on marriage down the drain, the people will rise up, override the politicians and the judges, and protect marriage rights for one man and one woman in the state constitution. VoteYesMarriage.com is our straightforward answer to political corruption like this.”

"VoteYesMarriage.com is the only California marriage amendment that specifically protects marriage rights for one man and one woman." declares Randy Thommason
