Jessie Helms is back! But this time he's Black!

I thought this commercial was a skit from some comedy show until I saw who sponsored it… Vernon Robinson, a Black congressional candidate in North Carolina.I had a chance to meet Vernon a few years ago when he was running for congress. His campaign slogan at the time was “Jessie Helms is back. But this time He’s Black!”

Once again, another great example of a race pimp for the right! (Video Here)

Yes, I said it! Just those he mocks on the left (Jessie Jackson and Al Shaprton), Vernon Robinson is nothing more than a glory hound seeking to use the vast racial divide in this country to elevate himself to icon status. Except unlike Sharpton and Jackson, he is pimpin’ for the right.

Like I wrote of Jessie Lee Peterson in my piece “Jesse Lee Peterson & Jessie Jackson- Pimpin Race for the Right and the Left

His goal is not to tell the truth, but to stir up racial tensions by telling conservatives that liberals and blacks are what is wrong with this country.

And like Peterson, he does shed light on some very real issues, but the manner in which he does it is more about self-aggrandizement and grand standing than about really solvin problems.

If Black Republicans are to ever be taken seriously it will be by holding up examples like JC Watts, Lynn Swan, Ken Blackwell and Bishop Keith Butler as examples of who we are.

Memo to Vernon Robinson: Leave the comedy skits to the comedians!

Support The Republican Wing of the Republican Party!

In recent times, it has become evident that not all in our party agree with these values. And these individuals have, over time, systematically worked themselves into positions of leadership within our party, while at the same time sought to subvert these core principles and those who do support them.

We with the "Support The Platform" Slate have come to the realization that the time has come for us to stand up for the principles upon which this nation and our party were founded

Democrat Legislators Getting Paid to Protest…. I thought it was a boycott?

Not everyone participating in the Great American Boycott was going without pay. California State Legislators voted to cancel their regularly scheduled floor sessions so that they could participate in rallies. But according to legislative records, only seven Democrats asked not to receive their $306 per diem.

According to the Sacramento Bee:

Records show that seven Democratic lawmakers asked not to receive a per diem
payment for Monday: Sen. Gilbert Cedillo of Los Angeles; and Assembly members
Judy Chu of Monterey Park, Carol Liu of La CaƱada Flintridge, Gloria
Negrete-McLeod of Chino, Lloyd Levine of Van Nuys, Dario Frommer of Los Angeles, and Nicole Parra, who worked in the Capitol on Monday afternoon but docked her
pay because she spent the morning driving to Sacramento from her Hanford
district.

While the outside of the Capitol was abuzz with protesters, the inside of the building was like a ghost town, haunted only by GOP legilsators and staffers. The 6th floor cafetera was closed and the basement resturant was offering minimal selections in honor of the boycott.

Republican legislators held a press conference to show their outrage at Democrats who chose to ignore the very important issues facing our state and spend a day partying and protesting; all on the taxpayers dime.

Here are some soundbites from Assembly members:

Audio File: 122kb - Assemblyman George Plescia (R - San Diego)
Audio File: 75kb - Assemblyman Doug LaMalfa (R - Biggs)
Audio File: 106kb - Assemblyman Bonnie Garcia (R - Cathedral City)

These Democrat legislators clearly don’t care about what Republicans have to say. I am not even sure that they care about what the taxpayers of California have to say. Let’s see if they care what voters have to say on election day.

(Hat tip to the Assembly Republican Caucus for the soundbites.)

Republicans say they’ll do the work that boycotting Democrats won’t. No...they are not legally elected, but they’ll work for half the pay!

As an estimated 20,000 protesters come to the State Capitol to advocate for illegal immigrants, Assembly Democrats will have taken steps to join the boycott by canceling their regularly scheduled floor session. However, they did schedule a check in session which will allow them to collect their $150 a day per diem.

Republicans are being encouraged by The Western Alliance to visit and call the office of Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez and offer to do the work that Democrats are not willing to do today. See “Legislative Democrats refuse to work on day of walk out, but still want to collect per-diem.”

Republicans are being encouraged by a group of Sacramento bloggers to visit and call the office of Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez and offer to do the work that Democrats are not willing to do today. The Western Alliance of Bloggers says it doesn’t matter that they are undocumented with the Secretary of State, because they are willing to work for half the price.

The phone number for the Speaker’s office is (916) 319-2046.

Give them a call!
