After the Day of Silence comes The Day of Truth!

As the Sacramento City School Board prepares to pass a resolution supporting the Day of Silence, I would also encourage them to support the following day (Thursday, April 27th) which is the Day of Truth. (Video Here)

Sacramento talk show host Eric Hogue included the following from the Sacramento School District memo on his blog:

On April 2, 2006 the Board of Education is expected to approve a Resolution proclaiming Wednesday, April 26, 2006 as the Day of Silence, "to recognize the silencing of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning people due to discrimination everyday in our society."

In anticipation of the Day of Silence observance by students please notify staff of the anticipated support for Day of Silence and the need to develop lesson plans that will allow students observance.

Students who participate chose to be silent for an entire day to call attention to the event. They wear a rainbow ribbon on their shirts and carry a small paper that explains about the day to anyone who asks why they are not speaking:

"I am participating in the Day of Silence today, which is a movement to recognize the discrimination that Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) students and their supporters face. Thank you for respecting my silence."

Eric encourages parents to call the school board and voice your concerns. But I would also encourage you to ask them to support the Day of Truth. This will allow students to exercise their right to free speech and present an alternative viewpoint on the issue of homosexuality.

Mexico claims California by eminent domain…Look for this headline by 2050!

I know that I was not the only one bothered by the plethora of Mexican flags at the supposed “Pro-Immigrant” rallies over the weekend. I mean, if their goal is to come to America and share in the American Dream, one would think that they would be waving the red, white and blue of the American flag. But is that really their goal?

I am all for immigration… legal immigration. My wife and her family are immigrants from the Fiji Islands. But they went through all the hassle and paperwork it took for them to come to the United States and become legal residents and eventually citizens. They recognize that their being able to come here and live as citizens is a privilege, not a right.

But many of those who marched in the streets this weekend were declaring something all together different. In their chant of "Estamos Aqui" , which is Spanish for "We're Here!" they are claiming what we used to call “Squatter’s Rights” . In other words, this is their land simply because they are here.
They are not asking to be citizens of our country. They have a country to which they are loyal… Mexico. And as far as many of these folks are concerned; California, Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, Arizona and Texas were stolen from Mexico. And they are here to reclaim these "Occupied territories" through an effort they refer to as “La Reconquista” , which is Spanish for re-conquest.

Consider the following, which I found in an essay entitled "The Mexican Conquest of America" :

• On July 27, 1997, Mexican President, Ernesto Zedillo stated at a gathering of Mexicans in Chicago, "I have proudly affirmed that the Mexican nation extends beyond the territory enclosed by its borders and that Mexican migrants are an important, a very important part of it."

"Mexico is recovering territory yielded to the United States by means of migratory tactics", said prize-winning Mexican author Elena Poniatowska. "The common people the poor, the dirty, the lice-ridden, the cockroaches are advancing on the United States, a country that needs to speak Spanish because it has 33.5 million Hispanics who are imposing their culture."

• In February, 1998, the Mexican Consul General of Los Angeles, Jose Angel Pescador Osuna, said that reconquista is a reality. In a symposium tied to the 150th anniversary of the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, Pescador Osuna said, "Even though I am saying this part serious and part joking, I think we are practicing la Reconquista in California,"

La Reconquista is not only evident in the words of Mexican leaders, artists and educators. But it is also evident in their attitudes and actions. Consider the following:

• Unlike past immigrant populations who went out of their way to learn English and integrate into American culture, many in this current wave of immigrants from Mexico are doing as much as possible to prevent any sort of assimilation.

• In the survey titled, "American Views of Mexico and Mexican Views of the U.S. ", Zogby conducted interviews of 801 adults chosen at random throughout Mexico, from Friday, May 25 to Saturday, May 26, 2002. . One of the survey questions was "Do you agree or disagree that the territory of the United States' Southwest rightfully belongs to Mexico?” 58% Agreed, 28% Disagreed and 14% weren’t sure.

MECHA, which stands for Movemiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan has in the preamble of it’s constitution : "Chicana/Chicano students of California must take upon themselves the responsibilities to promote Chicanismo within the community; as well as politicize our Raza (Race) and continue the struggle for self-determination of the Chicana/Chicano people and the liberation of Aztlan." Additionally, Article II, Section 1 reads, "General membership shall consist of any student who accepts, believes and works for the goals and objectives of MEChA, including the liberation of AZTLAN, meaning self-determination of our people in this occupied state and the physical liberation of our land." What land do you think they are referring to?

• On March 8, 2002, Ron Gochez, Mecha Chairman and Bill O'Reilly had the following exchange of words on The O'Reilly Factor:

Gochez: We are the nation of Aztlan.

O'Reilly: All right that's good, you are the nation of Aztlan. That's great. Do you want your own territory? Do you want them to give you some land?

Gochez: We understand that we are sitting on stolen land. This is indigenous land. This is native land, you know, Mexicano land.

O'Reilly: So if I gave you Arizona would you be happy with that?

Gochez: They took a lot more than Arizona.

O'Reilly: So you want more than that?

Now I’m not much of a conspiracy theorist. But when a group of people claim that they want to take over and repatriate part of America back to Mexico; and their actions demonstrate a substantive pattern that proves this to be true; what am I supposed to think other than that America is under attack? All be it a non-violent attack, but an attack none the less.

I think Loret de Mola spelled out this strategy best when he wrote in Excelsior, the national newspaper of Mexico, “A peaceful mass of people, hardworking, carries out slowly and patiently an unstoppable invasion, the most important in human history. You cannot give me a similar example of such a large migratory wave by an ant-like multitude. Stubborn, unarmed and carried on in the face of the most powerful and best-armed nation on earth. The result of this migration is to return the land to the jurisdiction of Mexico without the firing of a single shot."

I am also willing to recognize that his entire theory could be entirely untrue. But I have not seen much evidence of it in the actions of those who are protesting a bill that would do nothing more than is done by any of the socialist countries in Europe (you know… the ones liberals claim we should be more like) to protect their boarders.

So, to those protesters who are truly interested in becoming Americans and partaking of the American Dream let me make a few suggestions:

1. Put down the Mexican flag and pick up the American flag. The flag you wave tells us where your allegiances lie.

2. Demand as a part of immigration reform increased funding for education in English for all would be citizens. Such funding may or may not be needed, but requesting it makes a statement that you are willin to fully be a part of American society.

3. Stop trying to undermine the American cultural and economic values. The reason why America has been so blessed is because of these values, which happen to be unique to our country. Assimilation does not mean that you have to give up your culture. It means including your culture into what it means to be American, while at the same time embracing the predominant culture of this land. Undermining those values in order to make us more like Mexico… well… it hasn’t worked out so well for Mexico; Has it?

4. Support immigration reform. Take a stand against illegal immigration and for the rule of law. Furthermore, aggressively support substantive reforms to streamline the process by which hard working, law abiding immigrants can come to the US and enjoy the blessings of freedom that can only be found here in America.

Mark Leno Calls Fundamentalist Christians “Disgusting” and “Obnoxious”… so much for Tolerance!

The California State Assembly’s “Champion of Tolerance” had a few choice words for a group of Christian youth who visited San Francisco in and effort to encourage young people to take a stand for Christian values in their life.

Leno specifically stated, "they're loud, they're obnoxious, they're disgusting, and they should get out of San Francisco."

The San Francisco Chronicle reports to following:

More than 25,000 evangelical Christian youth landed Friday in San Francisco for a two-day rally at AT&T Park against "the virtue terrorism" of popular culture, and they were greeted by an official city condemnation and a clutch of protesters who said their event amounted to a "fascist mega-pep rally."

"Battle Cry for a Generation" is led by a 44-year-old Concord native, Ron Luce, who wants "God's instruction book" to guide young people away from the corrupting influence of popular culture.

That’s right! The San Francisco County Board of Supervisors voted to officially condemn the gathering of Christian youth who only want to speak out against sexual content in modern media.

Earlier this week, the Board of Supervisors passed a resolution condemning the "act of provocation" by what it termed an "anti-gay," "anti-choice" organization that aimed to "negatively influence the politics of America's most tolerant and progressive city."

Luce said it was the first time one of his events has been officially condemned.

Now having visited their Website, www.BattleCry.com, I can’t say that I see a whole lot of references to homosexuality. It primarily speaks to sexually explicit content in modern media, including:

TELEVISION

This generation views 16 to 17 hours of television each week and sees on average 14,000 sexual scenes and references each year. That's more than 38 references every day.

INTERNET

This generation spends three hours a day online and is the first to grow up with point-and-click pornography. Almost 90 percent of teens have viewed pornography online at one of the 300,000 adult websites, most while doing homework.

MUSIC

More than 25 percent of teen-targeted radio segments contain sexual content; 42 percent of the top selling CDs contain sexual content

ADVERTISING

With more than $128 billion dollars in their pockets, this generation has been targeted by corporate America, who does everything it can to grow brands and profits without any regard to the moral decay of a generation.

Does Mark Leno actually believe that it is “disgusting” to speak out against music that denegrates women, television that promotes violence or the instant access to pornography provided to you youth via the interenet?

Of course, it is no supprise that he would declare these Christian youth “…should get out of San Francisco.” I guess “America’s Most Tolerant and Progressive City” will tolerate everyone but Christians.

To fight Jessie and the unions, Walmart hires their own Civil Rights Pimp

Former aide to Dr. Martin Luther King and two-term Atlanta Mayor Andrew Young is now working for Walmart as a paid corporate cheerleader. And while I know he’s getting paid, at least he is working for the good guys.

Associated Press is reporting:

At the grand opening of a Wal-Mart in a black suburb of Atlanta, civil rights leader Andrew Young danced with store clerks, bouncing to the song "We Are Family."

He also posed with a $1 million check from the company — a donation for a memorial to the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. to be built on the National Mall in Washington.

Young took part in the pep rally in his new position as a paid corporate cheerleader for Wal-Mart — a role that has perplexed some of his longtime civil rights colleagues, who have all but accused him of going over to the enemy.

Once again, a black man decides to stray from the liberal path and other blacks are quick with the verbal lynching.

The Rev. Joseph Lowery, known as the dean of the civil rights movement, said Young — the 74-year-old former Atlanta mayor and U.N. ambassador — is acting as a "lone wolf" in working for Wal-Mart.

"Maybe he knows something that other advocates for economic justice don't," Lowery said in a statement.

I’ll tell you what he knows…. People can’t shop at stores that union bosses have helped close down. And oh yeah… People also want to work!

On Wednesday, Young hugged customers, signed autographs and posed for pictures with local dignitaries while singing Wal-Mart's praises. He cut the ribbon at a store that replaces an abandoned Kmart that closed two decades ago in the mostly black neighborhood.

The new store has received more than 8,000 applicants for 500 jobs. Young said he expects new housing and more business to follow Wal-Mart's lead and come to the suburban area that is home to some of the country's most affluent blacks but has stagnated in attracting jobs.

This same sort of response occurred at a Walmart just outside the City of Chicago where 25,000 people applied for 325 jobs. And just like those who are attacking Young, the liberals on the Chicago City Council refused to support Walmart and refused to allow the store to be located within the city, despite the fact that they were providing much needed jobs and generous philanthropy to the community. I guess towing the union line is more important than helping the community or helping people poor people find jobs.

But I have one question…. If Walmart is so abusive of their employees, why are so many people (in liberal communities mind you) flocking to work for them?

Democrat Staffer to be charged with illegally obtaining credit report on Black GOP candidate.

Black Activists Demand Apology from Senator Schumer; Ex-DSCC Staffer Expected to Plead Guilty for Accessing Black Conservative's Credit Report

Now that federal prosecutors have announced that they plan to bring criminal charges against a former Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee staff member who allegedly illegally obtained the credit report of Maryland Lieutenant Governor Michael Steele (R), and media reports indicate the accused has agreed to plead guilty, members of the Project 21 black leadership network call upon DSCC Chairman Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) to apologize for the DSCC's violation of this black conservative's privacy.

"Criminal acts of this magnitude illustrate how low some on the left will stoop in the hope of gaining an advantage," said Project 21 member Deneen Moore. "This does not appear to be a mistake, but instead a premeditated plan with the intent to delve into a black conservative's private life in order to discredit his character."

Lieutenant Governor Steele is running for an open U.S. Senate seat in Maryland. His Social Security number reportedly was obtained by the DCSS from court documents and used to obtain his credit report.

According to a March 8 letter from federal prosecutors obtained by the Washington Post, former DSCC staffer Lauren B. Weiner will be charged with computer fraud violations that carry penalties of up to six months in prison. However, Weiner will reportedly plead guilty and be sentenced to just 150 hours of community service and a year of probation. Former DSCC director of research Katie Barge, who resigned at the same time as Weiner, will reportedly not be charged.

According to Newsday, the DSCC has paid the legal fees for the two disgraced former staffers.

Trying to dismiss the scandal, DSCC spokesman Phil Singer told The Washington Times: "[Weiner] is a fine person who made a mistake. As we have said repeatedly, the DSCC has never been implicated in any wrongdoing in this incident. The matter is now closed." Lieutenant Governor Steele replied: "It is a stain on the entire organization... It's the kind of politics that turns people off and demeans the electoral process."

"This unauthorized access into Michael Steele's credit report provides evidence that liberals seem to believe there should be a special hell for conservative blacks, and that anything goes when engaging in the politics of personal destruction," said Project 21 member Mark Jordan. "We are told by Ms. Weiner's supporters that she 'basically made a mistake' and 'wants to get on with her life,' but their actions make it seem that the only mistake was getting caught."

"Ironically, Senator Schumer has been one of the loudest crusaders for strong protections from identity theft," noted Project 21 member Garry Cobb. "How can a tremendous defender of citizens' personal credit reports now be paying the legal bills of two individuals who blatantly violated the civil rights of Lieutenant Governor Steele? Shouldn't these allegedly experienced individuals instead be held out as examples to the seriousness of breaking the law?"

Same-Sex Marriage arguments being used to support polygamy… It was inevitable!

Just as many conservatives predicted, the arguments being used by liberal politicians and judges to legalize same sex unions are now being used to support polygamy.

Citizen Link is reporting:

Some polygamy-rights groups want the practice of marrying multiple people decriminalized and are trying to leverage court decisions that granted privacy rights to homosexuals to advance their agenda.

Mark Henkel is part of one group that describes itself as an "organization of Christian polygamists."

"We're a cross-denominational para-church effort," he said, "supporting both individuals and pastors that come to this realization that the Bible does not support the Catholic invention of one man/one woman as a doctrine."

Carrie Gordon Earll, director of issue analysis at Focus on the Family Action, said while the Bible contains many stories of polygamy, the arrangements have very few happy endings. She also pointed out that it was a cultural phenomenon adopted by some leaders in ancient Israel, but the Bible never condones it.

She said the current efforts by polygamists are designed to ride the coattails of the gay-activist movement, using its court victories and mimicking its strategy.

"The polygamists are going to go through the courts just like the gay-rights activists did, because that's the only way they can move their policy agenda forward," Earll said.

"There is no limit to the deviancy of humanity. It could go to anything from bestiality to pedophilia to things we can't even imagine yet."

I have long argued that once we have crossed the line that defines marriage as a relationship between one man and one woman, there will be no rational argument for not granting marriage to any group who desires legitimacy of their relationships, no matter how depraved they may be. In violating every moral and religious tradition, historical and cultural value, legal precedent, and usurping the will of the people same-sex marriage advocates are blazing a trail of destruction for polygamists, pedophiles and who knows else to follow.

In comments made a few weeks ago to a group of high school youth, I asked the question, “Once we eliminate this very logical line in defining marriage, what standard will be left to decide who can marry? Who’s to say that a 50 year old man and a 5 year old child cannot be married?”

And to my horror, one student quickly replied, “Why not?” And not one person spoke out to answer her question.

This blurring of moral and cultural values is no accident. Homosexual activist and writer Michelangelo Signorile describes the goal in the December-January 1994 Out Magazine as "to fight for same-sex marriage and its benefits and then, once granted, redefine the institution of marriage completely, to demand the right to marry not as a way of adhering to society's moral codes but rather to debunk a myth and radically alter an archaic institution that as it now stands keeps us down."

And they claim that we are legislating morality!

Office of Faith-based and Community Initiatives to come to California?

For those of you who have been wondering where I have been. The following press release from my boss will explain it all…

LESLIE PROPOSES GOVERNOR’S OFFICE OF FAITH-BASED
AND COMMUNITY INITIATIVES

AB 2704 will help California Non-Profits help Californians

(SACRAMENTO) – Faith-based and community organizations have a long tradition of helping Americans in need and together represent an integral part of our nation’s social service network. In order to help these organizations as they help Californians, Assemblyman Tim Leslie (R-Tahoe City) has introduced legislation creating the Governor’s Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives (OFBCI).

“Faith-based and community organizations have been serving our state’s most needy citizens for generations. It is high time we recognize them as partners and better enable them to serve California’s diverse communities,” said Leslie.

Specifically, AB 2704 would establish the OFBCI to:

• Serve as a clearinghouse of information on federal, state, and local funding for charitable services performed by organizations;

• Encourage organizations to seek public funding for their charitable services;

• Act as a liaison between state agencies and organizations;

• Advise the Governor, Legislature, and the advisory board of the Governor's Office of Faith-based Community Initiatives on ways to increase dialogue between non-profits organizations and the government to more effectively work together to serve California’s neediest communities.

• Partner with the California Service Corps to develop events and communications that foster public support for non-profit organizations and honor their work.

California has over 135,479 non-profit organizations. And of the $1.482 billion distributed via federal competitive grants in 2004, California received just $114.5 million. This means that California’s nonprofits received only 8.23% of these federal grant funds even though they serve 12.1% of the US population.

“If California had received it’s full share of these federal dollars, that would have meant an additional $64.9 million dollars for our State,” points out Leslie. “That could mean a substantial $25,000 grant for 2,000 of California non-profits plus 3,000 more $5,000 seed grants.”

Americans know more about the Simpsons than the First Amendment. DO'H!!!

How many of the Simpsons can you name? Now… How many of the rights outlined in the First Amendment can you name? DON'T CHEAT AND LOOK!

A recently released survey revealed that more Americans can name two or more members of the Simpson Family than can name two or more rights protected under the First Amendment.

BBC News issued the following story this morning:

Simpsons 'trump' First Amendment

Americans know more about The Simpsons TV show than the US Constitution's First Amendment, an opinion poll says.

Only one in four could name more than one of the five freedoms it upholds but more than half could name at least two members of the cartoon family.

About one in five thought the right to own a pet was one of the freedoms.

A new museum dedicated to the First Amendment said the findings showed there was a pressing need to explain one of America's basic laws better.

"We have our job cut out for us," said Joe Madeira, director of exhibitions at the McCormick Tribune Freedom Museum.

Another finding from the poll, a telephone survey of 1,000 random adults with an error margin of 3%, was that 22% of Americans could name all five Simpson characters.

By comparison, just one in 1,000 people could name all five First Amendment freedoms.

The names of American Idol TV show judges and popular advertising slogans also proved more memorable than the five freedoms - speech, religion, press, assembly and petition for redress of grievances.
