Did God Create Evil?
I recieved this via email. I usually don't post this sort of "pass it on if you're a real Christian" type of stuff. But this piece is too good to keep to myself. Enjoy
A University professor at a well-known institution of higher learning challenged his students with this question.
"Did God create everything that exists?"
A student bravely replied, "Yes, he did!"
"God created everything?" The professor asked.
"Yes, sir, he certainly did," the student replied."
The professor answered, "If God created everything, then God created evil. And, since evil exists, and according to the principal that our works define who we are, then we can assume God is evil."
The student became quiet and did not answer the professor's hypothetical definition. The professor, quite pleased with himself, boasted to the students that he had proven once more that the Christian faith was a myth.
Another student raised his hand and said, "May I ask you a question, professor?"
"Of course," replied the professor. The student stood up and asked, "Professor, does cold exist?"
"What kind of question is this? Of course it exists. Have you never been cold?"
The other students snickered at the young man's question.
The young man replied, "In fact sir, cold does not exist. According to the laws of physics, what we consider cold is in reality the absence of heat. Every body or object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits energy, and heat is what makes a body or matter have or transmit energy.
Absolute zero (-460F) is the total absence of heat; and all matter becomes inert and incapable of reaction at that temperature. Cold does not exist. We have created this word to describe how we feel if we have no heat."
The student continued, "Professor, does darkness exist?"
The professor responded, "Of course it does."
The student replied, "Once again, you are wrong, sir, darkness does not exist either. Darkness is in reality the absence of light. Light we can study, but not darkness. In fact, we can use Newton's prism to break white light into many colors and study the various wavelengths of each color. You cannot measure darkness. A simple ray of light can break into a world of darkness and illuminate it. How can you know how dark a certain space is? You measure the amount of light present. Isn't this correct? Darkness is a term used by man to describe what happens when there is no light present."
Finally, the young man asked the professor, "Sir, does evil exist?"
Now uncertain, the professor responded, "Of course, as I have already said. We see it everyday. It is in the daily examples of man's inhumanity to man. It is in the multitude of crime and violence everywhere in the world. These manifestations are nothing else but evil.
To this the student replied, "Evil does not exist, sir, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is just like darkness and cold, a world that man has created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God's love present in his heart. It's like the cold that comes when there is no heat, or the darkness that comes when there is no light."
The professor sat down.
The young man's name -- Albert Einstein

Clarifiation
It has been pointed out to me by several readers that this confrontation featuring Albert Einstein never happened. For the record, let me state that I don't doubt that they are correct.
But whether or not the story is true, does that make the logic presented in the story any less true? Are the facts about cold and darkness stated in this fictional story false? I think not....
I did not post this story because it had Albert Einsteins name attached to it. I did so because the logic contained in it reveals truth that I thought my readers would benefit from.
Time for a Sharp Stick in the Eye…
When a fellow Republican is attacked by liberals, I am usually the first to give them the benefit of the doubt, pending the facts. But it appears that might be alone in that practice.
Fellow Sacramento area Blogger Jason Daniel has chosen to join local liberal media and a political adversary of mine to take a swipe at yours truly.
At his website The Eyes of Argus Daniel writes:
Sacramento City Council will create an ethics commission for investigating campaign money violations because Election Loser Craig DeLuz blew campaign money on a silly rug and cross country trips
His comments are based on a Sacramento Bee article published last week regarding the City of Sacramento’s Campaign Matching Funds Program. The article reported the following:
The one candidate to receive matching funding, Craig DeLuz, ran against Sheedy in 2004 and collected nearly $17,000 in city funds.
A 2005 audit discovered that DeLuz used his campaign funds to fly to Washington, D.C., Chicago and San Francisco and purchase a rug for his office. Receipts were sometimes handwritten.
DeLuz defended his expenditures, saying it was necessary to raise money from people living outside the city in a tough fight against an incumbent.
DeLuz didn't violate the ordinance as written, the audit found.
Now I first commented on these false allegations when they first surfaced back in September 2005 in my post “What a ‘Sheedy’ Thing to Do!” where I wrote the following:
First of all, the total amount for the items mentioned above was a little over $725. $286 went for a stay at the State GOP Convention and $321 was for a fundraising trip to Washington DC (with a two hour layover in Chicago.) That makes a grand total $607 in travel expenses on two fundraising trips.
And as for the $126 spent on a rug; we had a space for volunteer operations donated to the campaign for the final three months. The storefront location consisted of bare walls and a dusty concrete floor. But we were grateful to have it. So in order to make the place a little more pleasant for volunteers, we purchased a large roll of carpet remnant to roll out on the floor to cover the bare concrete floor and keep the dust from flying around.
I shared this information with the reporter who covered this issue back in 2005 and yet she repeated the same false statement in last week’s article. But as much as that bugs me; what really upsets me is when a guy like this jumps on the liberal’s bandwagon and attacks a fellow Republican without getting all the facts. It especially gets my goat that he could have easily contacted me and ask me what was up.
Before posting this piece, I attempted to contact Jason via the email address on his website and got no response. I wanted to speak with him to clarify what was going on and give him an opportunity to publish the whole truth. Unfortunately, four days later I have heard nothing. But it took him less that 24 hours to slander my name. I now know where his priorities lie.
It is this sort of irresponsibility that gives bloggers a bad name. It is why we have such a difficult time being taken seriously by the Main Stream Media. In the past I have enjoyed his incite on local issues affecting Elk Grove. But I now have to question the accuracy of what he writes along with his motivation for writing it. I no longer can count on him as a credible source of information. That’s really too bad!

UPDATE 2/28/2007
Hours after this post went up, I recieved an email from Mr. Daniel apoligizing for not getting back to me sooner. Unlike most of us bloggers, he actually has a life... go figure!
In his email he stated the following about his comments:
I have not checked but I hope that you do post a responce. I would have to check into it a bit before I retract anything. Besides I'm not sure how I added on to a sac bee hatchet job. I just posted a link and you happen to be connected to the topic. I don't blog on you much. And I'm not sure what your buying a rug for your campaign head quarters amounted to your questioning my conservatism. I would think that me not being to hip to you buying a rug (when we all know that you got matching city money to run) with campaign money, would be considered a Conservative position. I don't really read you blog because you tend to blog on state and national issues so I did not read your defense posting.
I did not remove any benefit of doubt to your spending. The real issue is the fact that you made some decisions with the money that seem to be questionable. it stands to reason that if its an issue 2 years later, you might have to ease up on defending yourself and agree that it did raise eyebrows.
I will take more time to read your position when i get the chance this weekend.
I would say that if you would like to write an opinion piece on the issue of this campaign reform movement i would post it for a day as a guest piece. Let me know what you think.
I will contact you next week.
And to his credit he didn't even wait until next week, but followed up the same evening with the following:
Well, I just saw your blog posting. Bravo. Thanks for lighting me up. fair is fair. The offer to write a post for Argus is still on the table.
Good stuff though! If you think that MY creditability is in question, I would give it a litte more time and thought. I would'nt get so caught up with your Battle against liberals that you hit everybody with your vitriol. Maybe the point of my mention of you is that I think that your actions might have been a little irresponsible? Not anything to do with my turning to the liberal dark side. LOL!!
Fair enough Jason! All is good!

California Assembly honors man convicted of torturing black women
Dr. Ron Karanga, the founder of Kwannza was honored today on the floor of the California Legislature during their annual Black History Month observance. But what they failed to mention was the fact that Dr. Karanga is a convicted felon who was sent to prison for torturing two black women who were members of his cult, United Slaves.
In my post “Kwannza Claus is Coming to Town” I detailed the crimes of which Karanga was convicted.
A May 14, 1971, article in the Los Angeles Times described the testimony of one of them: "Deborah Jones, who once was given the Swahili title of an African queen, said she and Gail Davis were whipped with an electrical cord and beaten with a karate baton after being ordered to remove their clothes. She testified that a hot soldering iron was placed in Miss Davis' mouth and placed against Miss Davis' face and that one of her own big toes was tightened in a vise. Karenga, head of US, also put detergent and running hoses in their mouths, she said."
While I firmly believe that people can change, I find it absurd that we would honor a man who is guilty of such a crime and has shown no repentance what so ever. The irony of this whole matter is that the man who invented Kawanzza, which means “first fruits of the harvest" in Swahili would want us to ignore his fruits.
The Bible says “By their fruits you shall know them.” and that “every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.”

Accord on governing unified Grant district
Last spring, local officials reached a historic agreement on a plan to merge Grant with the Del Paso Heights, North Sacramento and Rio Linda school districts, creating a kindergarten-through-12th-grade system serving about 30,000 students.
The Elverta and Robla school districts, which also feed into Grant's high schools, would remain autonomous.
And consensus there was -- an unprecedented unanimity among district representatives, community leaders and county officials that had one trustee joking that the decision to schedule the meeting on Valentine's Day was a "stroke of brilliance."
"If you would've believed what people were saying years ago, it's a cold day in hell right now," joked Craig DeLuz, a Robla trustee.

Citizens protest county clerk's abuse of power
Dozens of men, women and children stood up for marriage and good government on Valentine's Day as homosexual activists demanded and got "certificates of inequality" issued by homosexual-marriage advocate Freddie Oakley, the county clerk for Yolo County. After San Francisco in 2004, this was the worst California county's attack on marriage between a man and a woman yet.

DeLuz kids promote Volunteerism with California's First Lady
I was doing some research for a work related project dealing with non-profit organizations in California and came across this picture at the website for California Volunteers. It is a picture of my daughter (Jazmine) and her brother (Craig) with Maria Shriver at the grand opening of the California Hall is fame. (Click Here to see the video)
I also found it interesting that the same picture can be seen when you go to the First Lady's website. I'll have to admit that it is kind of cool to see my kids out there promoting volunteerism with the First Lady and the Governor. But I have to lament that I have yet to get the same sort of access to this administration.
I have asked Craig and Jazmine to see if they could hook me up with the Governor and they have told me to have my people call their people. I thought I was their people! :-)

Report labels same-sex marriage activist as “Evangelical Christian” Real evangelical cut out of story. Liberal media strikes again!
If there was ever any doubt about the left wing leanings of the media this story blows them out of the water.
KGO, the ABC affiliate out of the San Francisco Bay Area interviewed yours truly for a story they were doing on Freddie Oakley, the Yolo County Clerk Recorder who plans on handing out “Certificates of Inequality” on Valentines Day to same-sex couples who come in and ask to be married.
The interesting part of this whole story is how they go out of their way to portray Mrs. Oakley as an “Evangelical Christian”:
The mother of two, in a traditional marriage for 37 years, is herself an evangelical Christian who says she just wants to make a statement.
And while they did include some of my comments in the article posted on their website:
Craig DeLuz, traditional marriage supporter: "She shouldn't be on the government dime when she's doing it. And she shouldn't be utilizing government resources, for example the county clerk's office, in order to be doing it."
They left out all of my comments in the story they would run on the evening news.
Now I called Nannette Miranda, the reporter who interviewed me and asked her about it and she had no idea that the video clip did not include my comments. Her specific words were, “This is not the story I submitted.”
She went on to say that she did not know that they were in the habit of changing hers stories and thank me for the heads up. She then committed to me that she would get back to me and let me know what happened. I look forward to hearing back from her.
Now… I was also interviewed by Fox 40 News in Sacramento and they did run some of my comments. In that interview I made the following points:
1. Even though she is an elected official, she should not use government resources to undermine California law, especially since this law was so overwhelmingly supported by the voters.

2. I wondered if Mrs. Oakley’s supporters would support the free speech rights of a County Clerk if he/she were to use their office to issue “Certificates of Denial” to same-sex couples advising them that their request to be married is in violation of California law, the law of nature and God’s law? I think not!
3. And finally, because Mrs. Oakley is such an “Evangelical Christian” I questioned where in the Bible she finds the authority to undermine civil authority and God’s Word, when it clearly says that marriage is between a man and a woman and that homosexuality is wrong.
I will post the video as soon as I get it.
